eCommerce websites make shopping easy for people. The NetSuite Connector makes management of the eCommerce process easy for the Merchant. One of the most vital processes is the Order-to-Cash (O2C) cycle. The process starts when a Visitor of your eCommerce store becomes a Customer. Once the Order is placed, it's up to the Merchant to deliver. So, how does NetSuite Connector comes in here?

What?

The NetSuite Connector handles new Orders one-way only (unless you are a B2B Merchant - in that case, read also our B2B section). The data flows from Magento (Order) to NetSuite. In NetSuite, a Sales Order is created. The connection between Magento Order and a NetSuite Sales Order can be split into the following sections:

General information

General information like Date Created, Order Number, Order Status, and a few more are all mapped in code. Any data on the Order level can be mapped from the Magento Order into the NetSuite Sales Order. For more information, see Order Settings Configuration page (Custom Fields section)

Items information

Basic Item information is set:

Missing a field? No worries. The NetSuite Connector code is written with that in mind. Point your developer to our 2024.1 Technical documentation and show them the 2024.1 Order section. Or reach out to us and we'll get it done for you. The Connector is flexible and we have completed many customizations in the past. We recently created a customization where an Item was a complexed Configurator result. Based on the Configurator, we also calculated the Purchase Price and set it on the Sales Order Item in NetSuite. We marked that Item Create PO and added a SuiteScript to set the right PO cost for the Item. Result? Once Sales Order was created, a Purchase Order with all needed info from Configuration was created and was ready to be sent to the Vendor.

Customer information

Customer information is passed from Magento to NetSuite. Note that even if the Customer placed an order as a Guest, the NetSuite Connector will link the Sales Orders in NetSuite with the same Customer (based on the email used). The Magento Order data is used to set the Shipping and Billing Addresses. Any Address changes after the Order is Placed in Magento won't be sent to NetSuite.

Shipping Method

NetSuite Connector uses the mapping of Shipping Methods in Configuration to set the required Shipping Method in NetSuite Sales Order. It also sets the Shipping Cost if it exists in the Magento Order.

Payment Method

The NetSuite Connector uses the mapping of Payment Methods in Configuration to set the NetSuite Sales Order Payment method. With Credit Cards, the NetSuite Connector supports Authorize and Capture in Magento and with the use of a specific Cybersource Extension (Magedelight Cybersource), the NetSuite Connector can support Authorize in Magento and Capture in NetSuite. This allows for flexibility of Sales Orders as you can Capture the Payment once the Fulfillment is done. The NetSuite Connector also supports all other non-dynamic payment methods (like Purchase Orders, Cash, Pay on Delivery or any others needed). The NetSuite Connector code also allows for easy access when needed for customization or integration of Custom Payment Profiles which allow you to send whatever data you want into a Sales Order.

How?

The NetSuite Connector sends the Magento Order asynchronously to NetSuite so there is no delay when placing an Order in Magento. The delay between Magento and NetSuite is usually up to a minute (depends on how the NetSuite Connector is set). Once the NetSuite Sales Order is created, the link to it is established in the Magento. This way, you can get to a NetSuite Sales Order from Magento Order thru a link.

B2B

The NetSuite Connector supports the standard way of Order creation in Magento. Many B2B merchants have different workflows in the order placement process. Whereas the Netsuite Connector supports our leading practice for Order placement OOTB, it is very flexible and can be changed/adapted to fit almost any B2B workflow needed.

What about Package?

Once you Fulfill the Sales Order in NetSuite, our NetSuite Connector detects that and fetches the Item Fulfillment record into Magento. It processes it and if Tracking Data is present and Shipping Configuration is set correctly, the Tracking Data is sent to the Customer using Magento Transactional Emails. Multiple packages? No issues there, the NetSuite Connector is capable of processing those also!
